Unlocking Mental Health Relief: How Minor Cannabinoids Might Revolutionize Addiction, Psychosis, and Anxiety Treatment
Δ8-tetrahydrocannabidivarin (Δ8-THCV) exhibited potential for nicotine addiction Δ9-tetrahydrocannabidivarin (Δ9-THCV) showed potential for psychotic-like symptoms Cannabidiolic acid methyl ester (CBDA-ME) alleviated anxiety and depression-like symptoms Cannabidivarin (CBDV) addressed autism spectrum disorder-like symptoms. Unlocking CBN’s Secret: How This Cannabis Compound Tames Skin Inflammation
CBN boosts the activity of two receptors: CB1 (at the gene level) and TRPV1 (at the protein level). It also changes how the body processes two key compounds, anandamide (AEA) and 2-AG, by tweaking enzymes that make and break them down. CBN reduces inflammation by lowering pro-inflammatory chemicals (IL-8, IL-12, IL-31) and increasing an anti-inflammatory one (IL-10). CBN also adjusts a specific inflammation-related pathway (MAPK), particularly affecting an enzyme called GSK3β. Overall, CBN interacts with the ECS and fights inflammation in skin cells, which could make it useful for medical or cosmetic products. Source
Medical Cannabis Clinic at Children's Hospital Reveals Surprising Benefits for Kids
Data provides a detailed profile of the palliative care medical cannabis (MC) clinic population at our pediatric hospital Positive effects observed across multiple symptom areas MC appears linked to reduced healthcare usage Notable decrease in the use of multiple medications (polypharmacy) Improved quality of life reported among patients MC used without significant adverse events. New Study Reveals Surprising Results – Broad-Spectrum CBD via Inhalation Outperforms All Other Forms in Reducing Seizure Severity!
"Results: Our findings showed that all forms of CBD reduced seizures severity. Among the combination of CBD tested, CBD broad spectrum via inhalation was the most effective in the treatment of epileptic seizures (p < 0.05) compared to other forms of CBD treatments." Source
Could CBD be a COVID game-changer? Study shows better outcomes with sublingual cannabidiol compared to placebo
"Results: Clinical outcomes were better in the patient group that received sublingual CBD vs. patients receiving placebo treatment. Serum cytokine mean concentration levels showed differences between the two groups but of mixed trends." Source
Unlocking the immune secret of cannabis receptors
Scientists studied how cannabis-related receptors in our body affect the immune system when fighting bacterial infections, like Salmonella. These receptors, called CB1R and CB2R, each have unique jobs in protecting us from germs. Without these receptors: Our body struggles to fight off the infection. Bacteria spread more easily. The immune system gets out of whack. If CB1R is missing: People lose more weight. Bacteria spread even more. Immune cells act weird, producing less of a calming chemical (IL-10) and more of stuff that causes inflammation (IL-6 and TGF-β). If CB2R is missing: There are fewer natural killer (NK) cells, which help fight infections. The immune system goes into overdrive with inflammation. Bottom line: These receptors help balance our immune response, and tweaking them could lead to new ways to boost our defenses against bacterial infections. Source
Could cannabis be the key to lasting health? Aussie study reveals long-term quality of life boosts for patients prescribed medicinal cannabis.
"Conclusions: Statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in overall HRQL, fatigue, and sleep disturbance were maintained over 12-months in patients prescribed medical cannabis for chronic health conditions. Anxiety, depression, insomnia, and pain also improved over time for those with corresponding health conditions." Source
Could Hemp Extract Be the Next Big Thing in Epilepsy Treatment?
This study tested HE on seizure models and found it: Lowered the chance of seizures Delayed seizures better than CBD alone Worked better in the body compared to CBD The study dug deeper into what parts of HE help prevent seizures: Cannabichromene (CBC) and cannabinol (CBN) played a role CBC strongly boosted CBD's effect on a brain receptor called GABAA GABAA seems to be HE's main target for fighting epilepsy. Could Cannabis Be a Game-Changer for Spinal Cord Recovery?
Spinal cord injury (SCI) causes inflammation and movement problems. Cannabis extract (CSE) with THC and CBD reduces inflammation: Increases "good" (anti-inflammatory) immune cells at the injury site. Decreases "bad" (pro-inflammatory) cells around the injury. Lowers reactive star-shaped cells (astrocytes) near the injury. CSE effects: Reduces harmful inflammation signals (like IL-1β, TNFα). Boosts anti-inflammatory signals (like ARG-1). Prevents scar tissue growth and protects healthy tissue long-term. Source
