Could CBD be a game-changer for colorectal cancer?
How CBD kills cancer cells: Apoptosis (programmed cell death): CBD triggers cells to self-destruct by reducing proteins that prevent cell death and increasing signs of cell death (seen in Annexin-V and TUNEL tests). Paraptosis (another type of cell death): CBD causes stress in a cell part called the endoplasmic reticulum and increases harmful oxygen molecules, leading to cell death. This is linked to higher levels of proteins ATF4 and CHOP. Autophagy (cell cleanup process): CBD boosts proteins (Atg7, phospho-Beclin-1, LC3) that help cells break down and recycle their own parts, which can lead to cell death. Source
Could a cannabis compound stop cancer in its tracks?
Slows cancer growth: CBN slows down the growth of these cancer cells. Affects receptors: CBN changes the levels of certain cell receptors (like GPR18, CB2, and GPR55) that are part of how cells communicate. Blocks cell signals: In brain and liver cancer cells, CBN reduces activity of a pathway called ERK1/2, which helps cells grow. In breast cancer cells, it reduces activity of another pathway called AKT, also linked to cell growth. Triggers cell death: CBN may cause cancer cells to die by lowering levels of proteins (p21 and p27) that protect cells. Halts cell cycle: CBN stops cancer cells from dividing by pausing their growth cycle at specific stages (G1 or S-phase) and reducing proteins (CDK1, CDK2, cyclin E1) needed for cell division. Source
Endometriosis Sufferers Turn to Cannabis for Relief: 99% Swear By It
Why do they use cannabis? Main reason: Current pain treatments don’t work well enough (68.6%). Other reasons: Side effects from regular medicines are too harsh (56.3%), and they worry about getting hooked on prescription drugs (43.9%). Do they keep using it? Yes, 99% plan to continue using cannabis because it helps their symptoms. Would they recommend it? 90% would suggest cannabis to a friend or family member with endometriosis. How does cannabis compare to regular medicines? People think cannabis works better and has fewer side effects than prescription drugs. Source
Could CBD Revolutionize Stem Cell Therapy?
CBD helps the stem cells grow and turn into fat cells, even without the usual chemicals used to trigger this change. The cells showed signs of becoming fat cells, like forming fat droplets, producing fat-related proteins, and rearranging their internal structure. CBD also influenced genes related to bone cell formation, suggesting it might affect other cell types too. Why does this matter? Controlling how these stem cells turn into fat cells could make them more useful for medical treatments, like repairing tissues or treating diseases. Source
Can Cannabis Ease Nerve Pain? Study Shows 79% of Trials Report Significant Relief!
Out of 927 studies, 14 high-quality ones (randomized controlled trials) were chosen. 13 of these 14 studies (79%) showed that cannabis medicines significantly reduced nerve pain. Other benefits included better sleep, reduced sensory issues (like tingling), and improved quality of life. Source
Breakthrough: CBD supercharges colon cancer treatment by boosting zinc-regulating proteins, slashing tumor growth!
Key findings: CBD changed the activity of genes involved in DNA repair and cell division. Genes called metallothioneins (MT) were much more active after CBD treatment. In colon cancer tissues, MT genes are less active than in healthy tissues, suggesting low MT activity may help cancer grow. CBD's effect on MT genes: Tests (qPCR) showed CBD specifically boosts MT gene activity, unlike other cannabis compounds or crude cannabis extract. Synergy discovered: Combining CBD with MT gene activation or zinc treatment made CBD better at fighting cancer cells. Source
